My first semester at the University of Florida was in the Fall of 2020. However, due to the pandemic, I wasn’t able to go to campus. Therefore, I had to do my first semester online. I wasn’t so sure if the transition to the university was going to be good since this was a new situation not only for me but also, for the university. However, I was impressed. Before the first day of class, freshman students did a preview, where we had a detailed explanation of how the semester was going to occur, what we should expect to encounter during the semester, and we enrolled on our first courses with great guidance from advisors.
When classes started, the resources were well explained, and it was easy to keep track of the courses. Furthermore, the university was constantly sending emails for us to participate in events and develop skills. This allowed students to get involved, which became vital since many were limited due to the pandemic. Therefore, the transition was successful. Furthermore, I had some friends that were in the same situation as I was, and they said that the transition to their universities was also made with no problems.
